A paragon of sustainable, adaptive reuse projects, Bread Box transforms a utilities space of a 1950’s Esso gas station in Queens into a local community bakery. With a limited budget and an old decaying masonry facade, the surrounding community participated by creating a new skin with signed wooden dough rollers attached to a steel channel.
